Entry for the 2009 Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design Competition is now closed. We'd like to thank all participating North American architects and designers for submitting top-notch institutional, residential and commercial/hospitality projects. Due to the recent paperless option of digital submission, this year the jury was flooded with a record-breaking number of entries. Aside from the high quantity, it was the quality of the projects that particularly impressed the international jury - showcasing the diversity, flexibility and sustainability of Italian tile.
The Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design Competition celebrates outstanding work of North American architects and designers who feature Italian ceramic tiles in their spaces. With hundreds of manufacturers producing elegant and innovative designs, Italian ceramic tile offers architects and designers a durable, versatile and design-driven material ideal for use in any project. Commercial/Hospitality, Residential or Institutional, new construction or renovation projects completed within the past 5 years are eligible. There is no fee or limit for entries.
A committee of Italian tile/design industry professionals judges the projects based on their creative attributes, how well the tiles meet their functional and technical requirements, as well as the sustainable attributes of the project. The winning architect in each category receives a 5-day all expense paid trip to Bologna, Italy to attend Cersaie as part of a delegation of design and lifestyle journalists PLUS a check for $5000 presented during the International Press Conference held annually at Coverings. In addition, the winning contractor/distributor team in each category receives a check for $1000.
